Information For Editors
Editors of MJ Cell Press Journals are well known, recognized and distinguished Scientists and/or Lecturers from private or public, institutions or universities across the world. They are selected based on their accomplishment and contribution to the advancement of science in their respective area of research. Once selected, beyond the management of manuscripts’ publications, they have some responsibilities among which the contribution to the growth and spreading of the in-charge journal. For that, Editors have the responsibility to invite distinguished scientists/lecturers all over the world to join the editor board; organize meeting and activities leading to the vulgarization of the journal; propose and select topics for special issue; update the aims and scope of the journal.
With regards to the management of manuscripts’ publication, it is important to highlight that the publication a paper in MJ Cell Press journals depend only on reviewers’ recommendation and the editor decision. For that, once a manuscript is sublimated to journal, it undergoes a preliminary check by the Publishing Manager team of the journal. That preliminary check is related to the respect of authors’ guideline for manuscript preparation edited by the journal and the other files required for submission (where applicable). Then, the manuscript is channeled to the editor who has the responsibility to pre-check the quality of the research addressed in the paper, its overall suitability to the journal and its respect with journal and ethical standards. Then, the editor selects adequate, appropriate and suitable reviewers based on their academic records, skills, and research aera.
The editor must send invitation letter to select the potential reviewers. The reviewers must accept the review invitation and declare conflicts of interest if any exist, before receiving the complete manuscript for assessment.
The reviewers have up to 2 weeks to complete the review and sent report. The editor compiles the different reports and make decision (minor revision, major revision, accept in current state, reject) based on reviewers’ recommendation and the overall scientific quality of the paper.
In the case that minor or major revisions are required, the editor must channel the report to authors with a specific period of up to 2 weeks to address all the comments and sent the revised manuscript together with a rebuttal letter of answer to reviewers’ and editor comments.
The editor must take decision based on reviewers’ recommendation, the objectivity of reviewers’ comments, and the scientific quality of the paper.
Editor can also re-contact the reviewers, particularly for the case of major revisions to see if the authors have adequately addressed the different comments. In that case, no more than two rounds of major revisions are typically allowed.
For accepted paper, the editor must supervise the copyediting, English editing, proofreading and final publication.
After the publication of the paper, the editor who have handled the manuscript have the right to include their name as editor on the published paper depending on their discretion.
Instructions to Associate Editors
Associate editors are members of the editorial board of MJ Cell Press Journals. Like the editor in chief, they act as ambassador to contribute its large scale spreading of journals. Associate editors are responsible to handle manuscript during the peer review process; make decision on the manuscript; establish communication between the Managing Editor and Publishing Manager of the journal. Based on their skills in a specific field (under the aim and scope of the journal), they should be involved in the development strategy of journal where they act, suggest, invite, and propose guest editors and themes for special issues. For manuscript handling from the submission stage to its final online publication, they have the same responsibility as above-mentioned for editors.
Instruction to guest Editor
Guest Editors are generally selected for special issues regarding a specific topic in a research field of MJ Cell Press. They can be scientists or lecturers with demonstrated skills in a specific research field and a great capacity to mobilize potential contributors. They are responsible for preparing the special issue, and its contents. In addition, they have the responsibility to promote the special issue (through email, conference, social media).
Upon submission of a manuscript, the guest Editor will be notified. He must pre-check all submitted papers, assess their scientific quality (originality, scientific soundness, research question), and make decision to before proceeding to the next step (peer review) or reject the manuscript. For manuscripts selected for peer review, the guest editor must recommend and select suitable reviewers.
If the Guest Editors want to contribute to the special issue with manuscripts, they cannot made decision regarding their own manuscripts due to potential conflicts of interests. Another academic editor must handle their manuscripts and make decision.
For manuscript handling from the submission stage to its publication, they have the same responsibility as above-mentioned for editors.
